There was only 8 of us high school buddies that got together to celebrate that we’ve made it to age 70. Becky and Bonnie couldn’t make it and Mandy and Ginger have died, they were all missed. We did have a good time though. I flew into Albuquerque NM on Monday, September 30th and Penny Lopp picked me up at the airport, we waited a while until Cathy’s flight came in and picked her up too. We then drove to Santa Fe, where Glenda and Wade have a condominium. Glenda had also rented another condominium so four of us could stay in each one. Sydney, Glenda, Mary and I stayed in one and Penny Lopp, Penny Hobbs, Trudy and Cathy stayed in the other. We spent most of our time together and slept in the separate condos. The first night we went out for dinner, then sat around and talked and laughed about old times together. Some of us, like Sydney, Glenda and I have been classmates and friends since elementary school, so there was a lot of reminiscing.

This is Cathy, Sydney, Trudy, Penny H, Penny L and I in the parking lot of the condos.

On October 1st we had a wonderful breakfast at the condo, eating the delicious egg casseroles that Trudy had brought with her. We then drove to a place to rent a wheelchair for me; I hate that I’m getting so slow, which makes me a burden on my friends, but I’m grateful that they (especially Sydney) were willing to put out the extra effort to push me around.

We went to the Farmer’s Market first which was huge and walked around. They had lots of interesting things and the smell of roasting corn on the cob and different meats was enticing. After that we drove to Museum Hill, where all but Sydney and I walked through the museum. Sydney and I went to the gift shops to look for souvenirs and a southwestern design billfold for me, which I didn’t find. The other girls had a great time in the museum, where they learned a lot about New Mexico and Santa Fe history. We got a good picture of us all in front of a statue of a dancing Indian. We had dinner out before we went back to the condos.

I woke up at 6:00 AM on the 2nd, darn it, everyone else got up around 8:00. After breakfast we left Glenda’s around 10:00 and went to a place called Meow Wolf. It was a strange and fascinating place where you walk around the weird exhibits and light shows trying to find clues to a mystery. I wasn’t able to go upstairs, so I missed some things but it was a very interesting place. I’ve included some pictures that are below.

We ate lunch at Piccolino’s, where I had some really good shrimp and pasta. We then walked around the Plaza where I bought a billfold, a necklace, 2 pairs of earrings and a t-shirt. That evening we just relaxed at the condo and snacked.

October 3rd was a lazy day, we went out for lunch then drove to the Georgia O’Keeffe museum. They had a really interesting video about her life and an exhibit of some of her paintings. The rest of the day we shared some photos we had brought and just enjoyed each other’s company.

I don’t remember where we were here.

Good picture of Glenda, Mary & Penny H.

Most of us flew or drove home on Friday, reveling in the wonderful time we had with friends in a beautiful city, thanks to Glenda for hosting such a great get-together.
